The song I chose this week is "Gift and Curses" by Yellowcard. This song is from the Spider Man 2 soundtrack and depicts the complicated relationship between Peter Parker and Mary Jane. "Gifts and Curses" perfectly captures the struggle Peter endures throughout the movie. His powers as Spider man become both his "Gifts and Curses" as he is forced to choose between the love of his life and using his powers to save the citizens of New York City. This song could be applied to many real life situations such as falling in love with your best friend who is in love with someone else- you'll always have your "gift" (your best friend), but you'll never have them the way you want and this is your "curse."
